Jim Marshall

Jim Marshall is one of my very favorite photographers, his work is actually what first inspired me to be a photographer. He was a very lucky man to be able to photograph the people he did.  He caught all the behind the scenes moments with famous musicians like, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and many others.  I admire his work not only because of the interesting subjects he got to photograph, but mainly because he just captured them in their every day moments.  For example the picture of Bob Dylan that is above was taken as they were walking to get breakfast.  His photos capture real moments instead of creating fake scenes.

Sean Berry

Sean Berry is a photographer from Plano, Texas and he also attends Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. I have just recently discovered his photos and have absolutely fallen in love with his work.  I guess what attracted me first was the fact that he shoots the same subjects that I enjoy shooting, musicians :) I think he does a beautiful job of capturing the amazing moments that occur because of music.  When I look at his photos it gives me a feeling of presence, it's like i was there to see the show.

 Dorothea Lange

Dorothea Lange was an American photographer and photo journalist.  She is known for her Depression era photos.  I love that she thought to capture the sadness and life of people that were struggling to survive in the hard times of the depression.  She was somehow able make depression a beautiful thing. I really like the contrast of her photos.

Last, but certainly not my least favorite.

Annie Leibovitz

This picture is very nice indeed.  Annie Leibovitz captured this moment with Keith Richards in his hotel room. It is actually an ad for louis vuitton, and you can see his guitar case/table is a louis vuitton piece.  It was not this that caught my eye first though, it was that face. That is the face of rock n' roll.  I only wonder what was going through that genius head of his at that very moment.  This picture has that mystery thing going.  Was he contemplating what could be a new masterpiece ? Or was he thinking "man, I could really use a smoke right now." The possibilities are endless.  I also like that they took an ordinary hotel room and somehow managed to make it look oh so rock n' roll :)

Annie Leibovitz is an American photographer who has photographed for Rolling Stone magazine, Vanity Fair.  She is a photographer of the stars.  I love her work because she takes dirty rock n' roll stars and turns it into something beautiful.  I also like how intimate and personal a lot of her photos are, like the John and Yoko Lennon photos.  Overall I just think she has a very unique way of seeing things and I always enjoy looking at her work.
