are you stimulated?

hahhahahha, okay now that we all had a good laugh, let me tell you about the image above.
i am taking 3D design this semester with Ashley Bryan and our latest project was to create wearable art.  each student picked a color from the color wheel and had to research the color's emotive qualities and then try to convey that emotion through their costume. the costume had to be monochromatic (the same hue, with only black or white added to change the shade or tint), it also had to have a one stuffed 3D part.

my color was yellow-orange as you can see, and after researching the color i found that both yellow and orange stimulate creativity and mental productivity. so that's where i got the emotion of stimulation.

i  bought my sweater and straw hat from goodwill and purchased the tights and fabrics from wal-mart.  the tights were originally white, but i dyed them yellow-orange.  and those random little shapes hanging all over my suit were sewn and stuffed by me.  i also painted the hat yellow and then covered it with a see-through orange material to create a yellow-orange color.

i really enjoyed this assignment and am glad i had the opportunity to do this, because it is probably something i would have never done on my own. i was also lucky enough to learn a new skill in order to complete my project, sewing. i knew how to hand sew a little before the assignment, but i actually learned how to use a sewing machine because of this assignment!!! it is definitely a WAY faster than hand sewing. i had a lot of fun dancing around in my costume all day, yes i wore it the entire day :) my pals and some people around campus got a hoot out of it as well.
